👮 Heyburn Police Sergeant Arrested
A Heyburn Police sergeant is facing an investigation into alleged internet crimes against children. Sergeant Noah Shiner was arrested yesterday by Idaho State Police and the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. He has been placed on unpaid administrative leave.

📷 Twin Falls Keeps Flock Cameras
Twin Falls will keep its 40 Flock license plate reader cameras after the City Council rejected a proposed suspension. A revised $128,400 contract turns off AI development, keeps nationwide searches disabled, and adds compliance with future state laws.

🎓 Private-School Tax Credit Questions
Idaho taxpayers still don’t know how many students receiving the state’s new private-school tax credit were already enrolled in private school or homeschool. More than 7,000 applications covering 12,561 students had been received as of August 17.

🚌 Smoother Start for Jerome School Buses
Jerome School District says year two of its self-run bus system is off to a much better start! After mapping and address problems caused canceled classes last year, a rebuilt and verified student address database is helping keep things running smoothly.

❤️ Idaho Nonprofits Face $200 Million Funding Gap
A new report says 51% of Idaho nonprofits couldn’t meet the demand for services last year. The statewide funding gap is estimated at about $200 million, even as nonprofits contributed $8 billion to Idaho’s economy in 2025.

🔥 Lightning Fires Burning Across Southern Idaho
Firefighters are battling several lightning-caused fires. The Flint Fire southeast of Jordan Valley is estimated at 6,000 to 8,000 acres, while the Battle Fire near Riddle has destroyed several structures. Level 3 evacuations remain in effect for Triangle, Riddle and nearby areas.

📈 Idaho Still Growing Fast
New Census estimates show Idaho grew 1.4% in 2025, ranking second nationally. The state’s population is now nearly 2.03 million, and Idaho has grown 10.4% since 2020! 🌲🏔️

⚽ Jerome Boys Stay Unbeaten!
The Tigers rallied for a 3-2 comeback win over Canyon Ridge, scoring three times in the second half to improve to 2-0.

⚽ Jerome Girls Roll On
Jerome improved to 2-0 with a 5-2 road win at Rigby. Preston also defeated Burley 4-1.

🏐 Volleyball Results
Buhl swept Jerome in three sets, while Filer, Butte County, Liberty Charter and Firth all picked up victories. Preston swept Burley 3-0.
