🚔 Jerome Officer Fires Weapon During Traffic Stop
A Jerome police officer fired their weapon twice during a traffic stop Wednesday night.
The first shots were fired near Founders Park. The vehicle was later stopped near Glacier and Kennedy streets, where the officer fired again.
A sheriff’s K-9 bit the suspect, who was hospitalized. The Region Four Critical Incident Task Force is investigating the incident.
🙏 Missing Paul Man Found
A 74-year-old Paul man reported missing Thursday night has been found following a short search.
Police had issued an endangered missing person alert for Leonard Snook. The alert has now been canceled.
🏫 Kimberly School District Facing Benefits Trust Shortfall
The Kimberly School District will pay more than $221,000 toward a $13 million shortfall in the Idaho School Benefits Trust.
The shortfall comes after medical claims were higher than expected. The district plans to use reserve funds to cover its share and has switched insurance providers.
🇺🇸 Flags Lowered for Patriot Day
Governor Brad Little has ordered U.S. and Idaho flags lowered to half-staff today in recognition of Patriot Day.
The governor is asking Idahoans to remember those who lost their lives on September 11th, honor the heroes who responded, and pass the lessons of 9/11 on to future generations.
📰 Idaho Statesman Announces Major Layoffs
The Idaho Statesman is losing more than half of its newsroom in a major round of layoffs.
Parent company McClatchy Media has cut 10 Idaho journalists and three of the newspaper’s four editors. The newsroom union says the cuts will mean less local coverage across Idaho.
📻 Eastern Idaho Radio Company Evicted
An eastern Idaho radio company has been evicted from its Idaho Falls building over more than $553,000 in unpaid rent and interest.
Rich Broadcasting owns four stations in the area. Court records show the company was ordered out of the building, while on-air staff are reportedly working remotely.
🚗 Deadly I-84 Crash Under Investigation
Idaho State Police are investigating a deadly crash on I-84 in Jerome County.
Troopers say a 65-year-old Pocatello man suffered a medical emergency, left the roadway near milepost 196 and crashed down an embankment Tuesday. He later died at a local hospital.
🚧 Jerome Road Closure
A road closure is now in effect at Main Street and Lincoln Avenue in Jerome.
Northbound and southbound Lincoln Avenue traffic is closed through the intersection through September 16th. Drivers should expect delays and use Birch Street or Fillmore as detour routes.
🦖 Mobile Museum Coming to Twin Falls
The Idaho Museum of Natural History is bringing its free Mobile Museum to the Twin Falls Public Library Monday.
The walk-through exhibit will feature an Idaho dinosaur skeleton, fossils, skulls and hands-on displays.

Twin Falls picked up a pair of wins over Burley. The Bruins beat the Bobcats 2-0 in boys soccer, while the Twin Falls girls rolled to an 8-0 victory.

🏐 Busy Weekend of Volleyball
Minico rallied from two sets down to beat Burley in five sets Thursday night.

- Kimberly edged Snake River in five sets
- Wood River swept Canyon Ridge
- Gooding swept Compass Charter
- Lighthouse Christian defeated Castleford in four sets
The Wood River Invitational gets underway Friday morning at 9, featuring Wood River, Twin Falls, Timberline, Kuna, Thunder Ridge and Pocatello.
The New Plymouth Invitational is also set for Saturday.
Unbeaten Valley, now 11-0, has a Saturday doubleheader against Butte County and Buhl.
⚽ CSI Soccer Splits Home Openers
CSI soccer split with North Idaho in Thursday’s home openers.
The Golden Eagle men suffered their first loss, falling 2-1 to 17th-ranked North Idaho.
The CSI women remained unbeaten with a 4-2 victory, improving to 3-0.
🏈 Boise State Opens Home Schedule
Boise State opens its home schedule Saturday against Memphis.
The Broncos are 27-3 in home openers since 1996, while head coach Spencer Danielson is 14-1 on The Blue.
Saturday also marks Boise State’s first home game as a Pac-12 member, along with the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the famous Blue Turf.
⚽ Boise State Soccer Wins Again
Boise State soccer picked up its third straight victory Thursday, shutting out Cal State Bakersfield 2-0.
Freshman Campbell Wilson scored both goals, while goalkeeper Ava de Leest made six saves for her fourth shutout of the season.
⚽ Idaho State and Idaho Soccer
Idaho State women’s soccer fell to UC Santa Barbara 3-1 Thursday night in Pocatello.
Samantha Fenske scored the Bengals’ lone goal on a penalty kick, while Hannah Wieler stopped a UCSB penalty.
Idaho State hosts Utah State next Thursday for Senior Day.
Meanwhile, Idaho women’s soccer beat Grand Canyon 1-0 in Moscow.
Calli Chiarelli scored just five minutes into the match, and the Vandal defense recorded its fourth straight shutout.
