JUVENILE PURSUIT FROM HEYBURN TO RUPERT
A juvenile driver is facing charges after leading officers on a pursuit from Heyburn into Rupert early yesterday morning in a stolen pickup.
Police say the chase ended after spike strips were deployed and the truck crashed into two vehicles and a building near South Oneida Avenue.
One person was taken to the hospital, and the juvenile was arrested on eluding and grand theft charges.
CATTLE KILLED NORTH OF WENDELL
Several cattle were shot and killed north of Wendell over Memorial Day weekend, and now Gooding County deputies and state brand inspectors are investigating.
Webb Cattle Company estimates the loss at around 12-thousand dollars, and officials say livestock destruction is a felony under Idaho law.
FORMER BOOSTER CLUB TREASURER REACHES PLEA DEAL
A 59-year-old former Jerome High School Booster Club treasurer has reached a plea deal in a grand theft case involving missing funds.
Prosecutors say Gordon Kealaiki could receive probation and a withheld judgment if he repays 16-thousand dollars before his July sentencing.
SUMMIT CREEK FIRE GROWS IN CASSIA COUNTY
A lightning-caused wildfire in Cassia County has now grown to more than 1,200 acres.
The Summit Creek Fire, burning near Cache Peak southeast of Oakley, is just 10 percent contained.
Crews are battling increased fire activity and strong winds, with multiple road and recreation closures now in place around the City of Rocks and Castle Rocks areas.
WIND AND DRY CONDITIONS SPARK MULTIPLE IDAHO FIRES
Strong winds and dry conditions sparked multiple fires across Idaho yesterday, with several reported in Southern Idaho.
Crews responded to fires near Hansen, Murtaugh, Melba, Kuna, and Payette County, where evacuations were briefly ordered as flames threatened structures.
Most of the smaller fires have now been contained.
TWIN FALLS WESTERN DAYS RETURNS
Twin Falls Western Days returns tomorrow for its 44th year at City Park.
More than 80 parade entries, carnival rides, food vendors, and live entertainment are all part of the weekend celebration.
The parade starts tomorrow morning at 9, with road closures surrounding the park continuing through Sunday.
IDAHO GENERAL ELECTION NOW AHEAD
With Idaho’s primary election now complete, attention turns to the November general election.
All 105 legislative seats and seven statewide offices are on the ballot this year, with at least 16 new lawmakers guaranteed to join the Legislature due to open seats.
Governor Brad Little will face four challengers in November.
Election Day is now just 157 days away.
RURAL HEALTH FUNDING WARNING FOR IDAHO
Federal officials are warning Idaho lawmakers there’s no time to waste in distributing nearly 186 million dollars in rural health funding.
State leaders must obligate the money by October 30th or risk losing unused funds to other states.
ART AND SOUL RETURNS TO THE MAGIC VALLEY
The Magic Valley Arts Council’s Art and Soul of the Magic Valley returns June 5th through the 27th with more than 200 artist entries displayed across Twin Falls, Jerome, and Filer.
The public can vote for their favorite pieces as nearly 47-thousand dollars in prizes will be awarded to 88 artists.
IDAHO MILK PRODUCTS OPENS NEW JEROME FACILITY
Idaho Milk Products celebrated the grand opening of its new 190-million-dollar ice cream and powder blending facility in Jerome yesterday.
The expansion will produce millions of ice cream products annually while boosting dairy innovation and creating new opportunities for Idaho’s dairy industry.

TWIN FALLS U-19 RAPIDS HEADED TO NATIONALS
Twin Falls soccer is headed back to the national stage!
The U-19 Rapids are Idaho State Cup champions for the second straight year after a perfect 4-and-0 run through the tournament.
The squad, made up of players from all across the Magic Valley, will represent Idaho at nationals in Tennessee this July.
Head coach Alex Ferreira says only one team from each state qualifies, making the Rapids’ back-to-back trips even more impressive.
Team captain Josie Carpenter says it proves small-town Idaho soccer can compete with anyone in the country.
GREAT BASIN CONFERENCE BASEBALL HONORS
In local high school baseball, Twin Falls senior Maddox Stadelmeir has been named the Great Basin Conference Player of the Year after leading Idaho with 10 home runs and helping the Bruins reach the state finals.
Burley’s Jake Redder earned Pitcher of the Year honors after posting a 1-point-2-8 ERA with 52 strikeouts, while Twin Falls skipper Tim Stadelmeir was named Coach of the Year.
The all-conference teams were also loaded with talent from Twin Falls, Burley, Jerome, Minico, Mountain Home, and Wood River.
IDAHO STATE ADDS ROB RODRIGUEZ
Idaho State men’s basketball is adding more experience to the bench.
Head coach Ryan Looney announced Rob Rodriguez as the Bengals’ newest assistant coach after helping lead the College of Southern Idaho to a 34-and-3 season and a national runner-up finish last year.
Rodriguez also brings NBA G League and international coaching experience to Pocatello.
ASHTON JEANTY RETURNS TO ALBERTSONS STADIUM
Boise State legend Ashton Jeanty is heading back to Albertsons Stadium next weekend as part of the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live event on June 6.
The former Bronco star and current Las Vegas Raiders running back will headline the VIP experience, drive the special edition “Smashton Jeanty” monster truck onto the field, and take part in the show throughout the night.
Fans can also grab special VIP packages that include meet-and-greet opportunities with Jeanty and incoming Boise State football players.
