Emergency crews are still on scene this morning after multiple structure fires broke out yesterday evening near Smith and Hamilton Roads in Elmore County. Several responding law enforcement officers were injured, though their conditions are still unknown. The fire is contained, but the area remains active as crews continue damage assessments and searches. Elmore County officials are expected to provide an update today.
Fire crews continue battling two major wildfires in Southern Idaho — the Summit Creek Fire near Oakley has grown past 1,200 acres, while the Black Ridge Fire in Lincoln County has burned around 1,500 acres. Windy, dry conditions are making firefighting efforts difficult as crews work toward containment.
Authorities responded yesterday evening after a person was found floating in the Snake River near the Perrine Bridge. Multiple agencies from Twin Falls and Jerome County assisted at the scene.
The Minidoka Irrigation District has approved a 15 percent water reduction for Rupert effective immediately. Residents are being asked to cut back irrigation use and avoid using drinking water to make up the difference.
Home prices continue climbing in Twin Falls. Redfin says the median home price is now just under 392-thousand dollars — up more than 10 percent from a year ago and nearly 108 percent higher than back in 2019. Nationally, home prices rose just over 2 percent year over year.
A tied Jerome County election race was decided with a coin toss. Incumbent Brian Smith and challenger Jesse Human each received 75 votes in the Republican precinct committeeman race. Under Idaho law, the winner had to be determined by a flip of the coin — and Jesse Human won on tails.
Idaho State Police says it has changed its deportation transport policy and now verifies convictions before transferring individuals to ICE. More than 80 people have been transported since last year, many after serving time for felony crimes including drug offenses and aggravated assault.
The Western Days Parade hits Downtown Twin Falls Saturday morning and drivers should expect several road closures. Parade routes along Falls Avenue, Blue Lakes and Shoshone Street will begin closing around 7 to 7:30 a.m., with additional closures around City Park lasting through the weekend.

The 2026 High Country Conference All-Conference Baseball teams have been announced, and Rigby led the way with Coach of the Year Sam Phillips, Player of the Year Bently Brower, and Pitcher of the Year Gunnar Davis. Canyon Ridge senior Christian Waitley earned Offensive Player of the Year honors, while players from Highland, Madison, Thunder Ridge, and Canyon Ridge filled out the first and second team selections after a strong season of conference baseball across eastern Idaho.
Canyon Ridge senior Christian Waitley is wrapping up an impressive high school baseball career after being named High Country Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Despite the Riverhawks struggling in conference play, Waitley posted a .579 batting average with nationally ranked numbers according to MaxPreps. He’ll continue his baseball career next season at Spokane Falls Community College.
The Great Basin Conference has announced its all-conference softball honors following another exciting state tournament run. Twin Falls senior Braylin Iverson earned Player of the Year after batting .579 with six home runs, while Burley sophomore Ady Olmos repeated as Pitcher of the Year after helping lead the Bobcats to their first district championship in school history. Burley and Twin Falls dominated the first-team selections, with strong representation as well from Jerome, Wood River, Canyon Ridge, and Minico.
The Sawtooth Conference has released its all-conference track and field teams following the close of the spring season. Carey had a strong showing on the girls side with multiple honorees and Coach of the Year Lane Kirkland, while Camas County led the boys honors with standout athletes across hurdles, jumps, and field events. Mike McHan of Camas County was named Boys Coach of the Year after another successful season on the track.
The College of Southern Idaho softball team split a pair of games yesterday at the NJCAA Division One World Series. The Golden Eagles fell to Temple College on a walk-off hit before bouncing back with a big win over Wabash Valley behind Jade Romero’s home run and five RBI. CSI now faces Trinity Valley today in an elimination game.
Fourteen Boise State track and field athletes are headed to the NCAA West First Round beginning today. The Broncos will compete in 15 events over four days, with the top 12 finishers advancing to the NCAA Championships in Eugene next month. Boise State heads into the meet with momentum after winning four individual titles at the Mountain West Championships, including conference crowns from Kaiya Robertson, Alex Thompson, and Raekwon Weatherspoon.
