🐕 TWIN FALLS POLICE SHOOT ROTTWEILER DURING INVESTIGATION
A Twin Falls Police officer shot a Rottweiler Wednesday afternoon while officers were at a home in the 300 block of Diamond Avenue for an investigation. Police say the dog ran toward the officer. The Rottweiler was treated and has since returned home. 🐾 The Twin Falls County Sheriff’s Office is independently investigating the incident.

🚤 BOAT RAMP CLOSED AFTER CRACK DISCOVERED
Twin Falls County has terminated its contract with Pillar Power Productions following the discovery of a crack in the Centennial Waterfront Park boat ramp. The company disputes that its operations caused the damage, saying the crack was already there. County commissioners say that, regardless of the cause, the ramp will remain closed until it can be safely repaired.

🔥 INTERNATIONAL FIREFIGHTING HELP ARRIVES IN IDAHO
Up to 250 firefighters from Australia 🇦🇺 and New Zealand 🇳🇿 are arriving in Boise to help battle wildfires across the West. National wildfire preparedness remains at its highest level as firefighting resources continue to be stretched thin.

👩‍⚕️ IDAHO OB-GYN WORKFORCE DEBATE HEATS UP
A debate over Idaho’s OB-GYN workforce is heating up ahead of November’s Proposition 1 vote. A Boise State study found Idaho lost 35% of its OB-GYNs, while critics point to rising numbers of medical licenses. St. Luke’s, including its Twin Falls operations, says recruiting and retaining OB-GYNs remains a challenge.

❤️ HELP AVAILABLE FOR THOSE AFFECTED BY IN-N-OUT SHOOTING
The City of Twin Falls is encouraging anyone who was near the August 1st In-N-Out shooting between 2:30 and 3 p.m. to apply for assistance through Idaho’s Crime Victims Compensation Program. Even people who were not physically injured may qualify for reimbursement for mental health services related to the shooting.

⚖️ TWO SOUTHERN IDAHO MAGISTRATE JUDGE OPENINGS
The Fifth Judicial District is accepting applications for two magistrate judge positions. Judges Thomas Kershaw Jr. in Twin Falls County and Casey Robinson in Gooding County are expected to retire. Applications are due by 5 p.m. August 31st.

🏞️ YELLOWSTONE ON PACE FOR THIRD-BUSIEST YEAR
Yellowstone National Park is on pace for its third-busiest year on record. More than 958,000 people visited the park in July, slightly below last year’s number. So far this year, Yellowstone has welcomed more than 2.6 million visitors.

👑 MRS. IDAHO AMERICA HEADED TO NATIONAL PAGEANT
Mrs. Idaho America 2026 Courtney Lehosit of Boise is heading to Las Vegas to represent Idaho in the Mrs. America pageant September 3rd. The mother of two, who works for U.S. Senator Mike Crapo, is using her platform to support Idaho families impacted by cancer. 💜

🏹 SHOSHONE FOOTBALL MOVES BACK TO 2A
The Shoshone Indians are moving back up to 2A football this season with a familiar face leading the way. Mark Sant returns as head coach after previously leading Shoshone from 1998 to 2012. The Indians return several experienced players from last year’s 5-and-4 team, including quarterback Ty Russell and lineman Dominick Wadsworth. Shoshone opens August 28th at Challis.

🎣 FISH SALVAGE ORDER ISSUED FOR OAKLEY RESERVOIR
Idaho Fish and Game has issued a fish salvage order for Oakley Reservoir beginning Thursday through November 1st. Bag, possession and size limits are lifted as the reservoir is dewatered, although anglers still need a valid fishing license. Fish and Game hopes to eventually restore the fishery.

🐾 BURLEY FOOTBALL LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK
The Burley Bobcats are looking to turn things around after going winless last season. Head coach Cam Andersen returns a more experienced group after starting nine freshmen and sophomores a year ago. Burley opens the season August 21st at Ridgevue.

🏆 NEW HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS RULES APPROVED
The Idaho High School Activities Association has approved 34 changes for the new school year, including five affecting Magic Valley teams. Buhl drops to 3A, while Canyon Ridge joins the 5A Great Basin Conference in most sports. One-A schools will get their own state track meet, girls wrestling expands to two divisions, golf coaches can advise players between the tee and green, and baseball’s state regional playoff format is now permanent.

🏈 BUHL FOOTBALL ADJUSTS TO 3A
Buhl football is adjusting to a new classification after declining enrollment dropped the Indians from 4A to 3A. Buhl will compete with Wendell and Declo in the renewed Canyon Conference. Head coach Josh Creasey says the change won’t alter the team’s preparation, with the Indians still aiming to be one of Idaho’s most prepared teams.

🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF: GLENNS FERRY & HANSEN
The Countdown to Kickoff continues with Glenns Ferry and Hansen. The Pilots enter the season with new head coach Dustin Johnson after going 4-and-6 last year. Junior quarterback Carson Traudt returns as Glenns Ferry opens at home against Notus August 28th. Meanwhile, Hansen looks to build on a 7-and-2 season under Toby Lapp. The Huskies open at Murtaugh August 28th.

⚽ BOISE STATE SOCCER WINS AGAIN
Freshman Campbell Wilson scored twice and added an assist in her college debut, leading Boise State soccer to a 3-0 win over CSUN. Olivia Collins added the other goal as the Broncos extended their program-record unbeaten streak to 15 matches. Boise State travels to Weber State Sunday.

⛳ BOISE OPEN TEES OFF TODAY
The Boise Open tees off today at Hillcrest Country Club, with 156 Korn Ferry Tour players competing for a $1 million purse. The tournament runs through Sunday, with Nelly performing tonight, Counting Crows Friday and HARDY Saturday. Sunday includes Junior Day, with kids 15 and younger getting in free with a ticketed adult.

🐯 IDAHO STATE CHANGES FAN ENTRY PROCESS
Idaho State is introducing a new fan entry process for Bengal football games at the ICCU Dome. Doors will open 90 minutes before kickoff, with security screenings at entrances. The Dome will continue its no re-entry and clear-bag policies while adding expanded concessions, beer gardens and other fan amenities.
