⚖️ IDAHO ABORTION BAN CASE
An Idaho federal judge is now considering whether abortions should be allowed in serious health-threatening situations that aren’t immediately fatal. The case was brought by Boise maternal-fetal specialist Dr. Stacy Seyb, who argues Idaho’s abortion ban needs broader medical exceptions. A ruling is expected after both sides submit final findings in the coming weeks.
📜 NEW IDAHO LAWS
A number of new Idaho laws take effect July 1st. Changes include eliminating license plate stickers, banning bulk lottery ticket purchases, reducing cosmetology training hours, requiring parental notification for gender identity changes, mandating biological-sex bathrooms, daily school moments of silence, AI policies in schools, limiting local short-term rental regulations, increasing county jail reimbursements, allowing semis to travel 80 miles per hour, and making the firing squad Idaho’s primary execution method.
🚧 JEROME CONSTRUCTION
Downtown Jerome construction begins July 6th with improvements planned for Main Street and South Lincoln Avenue. Drivers should expect lane closures and traffic shifts during the project. A public information meeting is scheduled for June 25th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Jerome Public Library.
🎆 TWIN FALLS INDEPENDENCE DAY
Twin Falls will celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a spectacular Independence Day fireworks show at dusk on July 4th at CSI. Tune in to BUCK AM/FM, Kat Kountry 106, 103.1 The Edge, or Hot 100 for the music choreographed with the display. This year it’s expected to be bigger than ever. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early, expect traffic delays, and remember that personal fireworks and alcohol are prohibited on campus.
✈️ B-29 BOMBER “DOC” VISIT CANCELED
A rare World War II B-29 bomber known as “Doc” won’t be making its planned stop in Twin Falls after suffering an engine failure during a tour stop in Washington. Organizers say ticket holders will receive refunds. There’s hope that the historic aircraft could visit the Magic Valley next year.
🚨 IDAHO FALLS BODY RECOVERED
Authorities have recovered the body of 20-year-old Tayson Thomas from a canal in Idaho Falls. Thomas had been missing since June 7 after reportedly fleeing from police.
🔥 ELMORE COUNTY FIRES
Fire crews have fully contained the 247-acre Teapot Fire northeast of Mountain Home. Meanwhile, firefighters stopped the spread of the Chalk Fire in Elmore County after it burned about 1,500 acres of grass and brush.

🐎 COLLEGE NATIONAL FINALS RODEO
The College National Finals Rodeo is underway in Wyoming, and several CSI Golden Eagles are making their mark. In breakaway roping, Ella Begger sits among the top contenders with a fifth-place finish in the first go-round, while Ellie Thurgood placed fourth in the second go. Hailey Gibbs is tied for tenth in goat tying. On the men’s side, Dahl Winters posted a sixth-place finish in the second round of bareback riding. Competition continues through Saturday as CSI athletes chase national championships.
🏫 IHSAA SCHOOLS OF EXCELLENCE
The Idaho High School Activities Association has announced its 2025-26 Schools of Excellence awards, and the Magic Valley is well represented. Kimberly High School earned the prestigious 4A School of Excellence honor for the fourth consecutive year, recognizing outstanding achievement in academics, athletics, and sportsmanship. Kimberly Athletic Director Zach Dong says the school emphasizes that students come first in student-athlete. Twin Falls, Burley, and Buhl High Schools also received IHSAA Awards of Excellence this year.
⚾ TWIN FALLS RED HAWKS
The Twin Falls Red Hawks handed the Wood River Wranglers their first loss of the American Legion A season yesterday, winning 16-to-5 in five innings. Dawson Wheeler and Troy Worden combined for six hits and 10 RBIs to lead the offense, while Brett Paxton struck out six on the mound as Twin Falls improved its early-season record.
🤠 SNAKE RIVER STAMPEDE
The 111th Snake River Stampede gets underway tonight at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa. The five-night rodeo runs through June 20th, with gates opening at 5:30 and performances beginning at 7:30 each evening. Organizers remind fans that only clear bags are allowed and recommend purchasing tickets through the official Snake River Stampede website.
🏛️ COLLEGE ATHLETICS WORKING GROUP
Governor Brad Little has created a new working group to study the future of college athletics in Idaho. The group will review challenges facing universities and present recommendations to the governor this September.
