- Fatal Yellowstone-Area Crash
Idaho State Police and the NTSB are investigating a deadly May 1 crash near Henry’s Lake involving a pickup and a tour van carrying tourists from China and Italy. Troopers say the pickup crossed the center line, but the cause is still under investigation. Autopsies are underway in Ada County to confirm identities. - South Hills Poaching Case
Three Idaho men—Austin Zeko, Bobby George, and Brian Bob George—lost their hunting licenses for three years and will pay fines after pleading guilty in a poaching case. The broader investigation resulted in 115 charges, including 81 felonies. Nine others await trial.

- Medication Abortion Lawsuit
The U.S. Department of Justice argues that Idaho, Kansas, and Missouri are reviving their mifepristone lawsuit in the wrong court and too late. The states seek to roll back FDA rules for the abortion pill. - 2025 Legislative Session Sets Record
Idaho lawmakers prepared 1,378 pieces of legislation this year—a 30-year record and 140 more than in 2024. It’s the first time Idaho has surpassed 1,300 bills in a single session. - Boise Flag Recognition Vote
Boise City Council voted to officially recognize the Pride flag, city flag, and organ donor flag despite tensions over the new state flag law. The city says the decision affirms inclusion while complying with state rules.

- Filer House Fire
A fire that started under a bathroom floor spread through a home near Filer. No one was home at the time. Though no injuries occurred, the house suffered smoke damage and is now uninhabitable.

- CSI Drug-Free Scholarship Winner
Twin Falls High School senior Abbeygale Campos won a full year’s tuition to CSI through a drug-free pledge and essay competition. Two other students earned one-semester awards from the Twin Falls Prosecutor’s Office.
SPORTS
- Southern Idaho Softball Showdowns
- 5A: Wood River upset Twin Falls 12-9 in extras. Jerome beat Burley 3-2 and heads to state.
- 4A: Gooding beat Buhl 8-7 with a walk-off RBI. Gooding must beat Kimberly twice for the title.
- 3A: Malad routed Declo 10-0. Wendell beat Soda Springs but was later eliminated by Declo 9-5. Declo faces Malad needing two wins for the championship.
- College of Southern Idaho
CSI softball beat North Idaho 9-0 in the Region 18 opener. Emerson Fuller pitched a shutout, and the team exploded for seven runs in the third. CSI faces Salt Lake CC next. - Boise State Softball
The Broncos play Utah State today at 4 p.m. in San Diego for the Mountain West Championship. They swept Utah State last weekend. - Idaho State Softball
ISU’s first Big Sky Tournament game is postponed due to weather in Greeley. They’ll face the Portland State–Northern Colorado winner when play resumes.
