TRANSGENDER POLICY LAW SIGNED
Idaho Governor Brad Little has signed a bill requiring teachers and healthcare providers to notify parents within three days if a minor requests a gender-related social transition. Entities that fail to comply could face lawsuits or fines up to one hundred thousand dollars. The law takes effect July 1.
MEDICAID WORK REQUIREMENTS
Governor Little has also signed a new law requiring Medicaid expansion recipients to prove they are working to maintain coverage. Around 80-thousand Idahoans will be affected, with estimates suggesting up to 34-thousand could lose benefits. The requirements are expected to roll out by 2027.
KETCHUM POLICING TRANSITION
After 17 years, the Blaine County Sheriffβs Office will no longer provide law enforcement services in Ketchum. The city has ended its contract and will transition to a new Ketchum Police Department. Officials say there should be no disruption in public safety services.
MEDICAL TRAINING FUNDING SAVED
Governor Little vetoed a proposed budget cut to graduate medical education, preserving funding for programs that train doctors. He cited Idahoβs ongoing physician shortage, noting the state cannot afford reductions. Lawmakers cannot override the veto since the session has adjourned.
LOW SNOWPACK RAISES DROUGHT CONCERNS
Idaho is experiencing one of its worst snowpack years on record, raising alarms for irrigation and water supply. Officials warn that farmers could be heavily impacted, though reservoir levels are helping for now.
FATAL ATV CRASH NEAR KUNA
One woman is dead and another hospitalized after an ATV accident near Kuna. Authorities say the vehicle rolled down a rocky embankment. A 76-year-old woman died at the scene, while a 73-year-old was airlifted with life-threatening injuries. The crash appears accidental.
HIT-AND-RUN INVOLVING SCHOOL BUS
Idaho State Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash involving a school bus on I-84 near milepost 208. The bus struck a concrete barrier after another driver fled the scene. No serious student injuries were reported. The second driver has been identified and cited.

BASEBALL: BUSY WEEKEND ACTION
Burley and Jerome split a doubleheader on Seniors Day, with Burley winning game one 12-0 and Jerome taking game two 5-3. Declo dominated at the Glenns Ferry Wood Bat Tournament, beating Grangeville 13-1 and Garden Valley 14-0. Wendell crushed Notus 17-0 and Grangeville 18-1.
Twin Falls swept Wood River 20-6 and 12-0, Filer shut out Gooding 10-0, and Homedale handled Buhl twice 12-1 and 10-0. Rigby defeated Canyon Ridge three times, while Minico swept Mountain Home 7-2 and 7-1.
SOFTBALL: TOURNAMENT AND CONFERENCE CLASHES
Gooding edged Filer 5-4 to extend its winning streak in that matchup. Wendell picked up multiple tournament wins but fell to Wells, Nevada. Glenns Ferry had a mixed showing, while Minico split with Buhl and Declo went 1-1 in extra innings action. Prairie rolled past Mountain Home JV 24-10.
