Ten Commandments Bill Introduced in Idaho Legislature
The Idaho House Education Committee has introduced HB 238, a bill that would require public schools to display a 16-by-20-inch poster of the Ten Commandments if passed. Sponsored by Rep. Glenneda Zuiderveld, this bill follows another proposal mandating Bible readings in schools. It still faces multiple legislative hurdles before becoming law.
First Human Case of Bird Flu in Nevada
Nevada has reported its first human case of bird flu in a dairy worker. Meanwhile, Idaho health officials are offering protective equipment to dairies as a precaution. While no human cases have been reported in Idaho, experts warn that the virus is spreading. Symptoms include eye redness and irritation. The CDC maintains that the risk to the general public remains low.
Idaho House Passes Grocery Tax Credit Increase
The Idaho House has passed a bill to increase the grocery tax credit to $155 per person, up from $120. Seniors currently receiving $140 would also get $155. A family of four would now receive $620 annually, helping offset the food sales tax. The bill now moves to the Senate.

Idaho Supreme Court justices debated the state’s ski liability law in a wrongful death case against Sun Valley Resort, calling it contradictory. The case involves a skier who died after hitting a snow gun tower. Justices questioned whether both skiers and resorts could share liability. Jerome County Prosecutor to Remain Despite Residency Issue
Sam Beus will remain Jerome County’s prosecuting attorney despite residency issues that voided his election win. Commissioners reopened the position but ultimately reappointed Beus, citing his experience and strong performance. He still plans to move to Jerome County.

Boise Mental Health Clinic Co-Owner Arrested
Ryan Jenks, co-owner of a Boise mental health clinic and former Republican legislative candidate, has been arrested on felony charges of sexual abuse of minors. He faces three charges from alleged incidents in 2016. Jenks, who co-founded Brighter Future Health, has posted bail.

High School Girls Basketball
- No. 2 Valley pulled off a stunning comeback to defeat No. 3 Raft River 54-51 in the 2A Snake River Conference true second-place game. Valley now joins conference champion Oakley at the 2A state tournament, starting Thursday in Nampa.
- Jerome punched its ticket to the 5A state tournament with a 48-37 play-in win over Emmett.
- Carey edged Tri-Valley 37-36 in a 1A play-in, earning its first state appearance since 2021.
- Wendell’s Cinderella run ended in a 48-31 loss to North Fremont in the 3A play-in.
5A Boys Basketball
- Minico 46, Twin Falls 45 – Minico’s Jayden McKenzie led with 18 points, securing a thrilling 1-point victory.
- Burley 74, Mountain Home 52 – Burley finished the regular season strong and will enter the Great Basin Conference Tournament as the No. 3 seed.
- Jerome 69, Wood River 40 – Jerome’s AJ Johnson led the Tigers with 16 points to close the regular season. Jerome will be the No. 4 seed in the GBC tournament.
4A Boys Basketball
- Kimberly 66, Gooding 54 – Kimberly pulled away in the second half, led by Broden Anthony’s 19 points, securing the No. 1 seed in the Sawtooth Central Idaho Conference Tournament.
College Basketball
- CSI Men’s Basketball defeated Colorado Northwestern 86-75 on Saturday, improving to 20-7 overall and 8-4 in conference play. CSI will host North Idaho on Saturday.
- CSI Women’s Basketball dominated Colorado Northwestern 98-43, hitting 12 three-pointers and shooting 54% from beyond the arc.
- Boise State’s four-game win streak ended in a 64-47 loss to San Diego State. The Broncos shot just 34% from the field. They will face New Mexico on Wednesday at Extra Mile Arena.
- Boise State Women’s Basketball fell 67-63 to Fresno State and will face Wyoming tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. MT.
- Idaho Basketball lost a 75-73 heartbreaker to Eastern Washington and will travel to Northern Arizona and Northern Colorado next week.
- Idaho State Softball wrapped up the UNLV Rebel Classic with an 8-1 win over Monmouth, finishing 3-2 in the tournament.
CSI Dance Team Defends National Title
The College of Southern Idaho Dance Team successfully defended its National Championship in the Pom Division at USA Nationals. They also finished runner-up in Jazz, just behind Snow College.
