❄ Severe Weather Alert

A high avalanche danger is in effect for the Sawtooth, Smoky, and Soldier Mountains as heavy snow and strong winds continue to overload an already weak snowpack. Avalanches are very likely.

A Winter Storm Warning is also in place for Blaine and Camas Counties, with up to 30 inches of snow expected at higher elevations. Travel could be difficult to impossible.

Meanwhile, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the Magic Valley, where slick roads and hazardous conditions are expected throughout the day.

Severe winter weather has led to closures in Blaine County:
✅ All county schools and non-essential services are closed today.
✅ Warm Springs Road is closed past the pavement.

🔫 Gunfire Investigation in Jerome
The Jerome Police Department is investigating two reports of gunfire from Saturday night. Officers discovered shell casings and a home damaged by bullets on 6th Ave East—thankfully, no injuries were reported. Authorities believe these incidents are connected and not random.

🚗 Serious Crash in Jerome
The Idaho State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash that injured four people on Sunday morning at South Lincoln & West Ave E in Jerome. The head-on collision sent all occupants to local hospitals, and the road remained blocked for over three hours.

More than 500 people gathered in the Magic Valley on Sunday night to advocate for immigrant rights, emphasizing the crucial role immigrants play in the community, particularly in agriculture.

🏡 Twin Falls Home Prices Stay High
Despite a cooling housing market, Twin Falls home prices remain high. A new Stacker report using Zillow data ranks the region’s most expensive homes. While rising mortgage rates have slowed growth in some areas, Twin Falls continues to see price increases. Nationwide, the typical U.S. home value has climbed to $358,461, a 2.6% increase from last year.

Minico took first place at the Red Halverson Invitational, racking up 198 points! Top wrestlers included:
🥇 Tristan Vega (Burley) – 126 lbs
🥇 Wallace Durfee (Declo) – 138 lbs
🥇 Mikael Teague (Minico) – 106 lbs
🥇 Koy Orr (Filer) – 132 lbs
🔹 Minico finished first, while Jerome tied for 9th place.

🏀 High School Basketball Action
✅ Kimberly defeated Buhl 69-54 in a 4A Sawtooth Conference matchup.
✅ Burley edged out Jerome 49-47 in a nail-biter.
✅ Gooding took down Filer 56-42.

⚾ CSI Baseball Splits Doubleheader
The CSI Baseball team split their Saturday doubleheader against Scottsdale:
⚾ Game 1: Lost 4-0
⚾ Game 2: Won 7-6
The Golden Eagles finished their Arizona road trip at 3-7 and will host Weber State on February 14th.

🏀 College Basketball Highlights
🔹 Boise State dominated Fresno State 82-60, extending their win streak over the Bulldogs to six games. Andrew Meadow led with 20 points as Boise now heads to Las Vegas to face UNLV tomorrow.

🔹 CSI Men’s Basketball put on a three-point clinic, sinking 18 threes en route to a 94-61 blowout over USU Eastern. Khayri Dunn led the charge with 23 points and 7 three-pointers. CSI improves to 19-5 (7-2 in conference play).

🔹 The Idaho Vandals fell to Idaho State 86-71 in the latest King Spud rivalry matchup. Kolton Mitchell put up 17 points, but Idaho’s poor 3-point shooting (25%) proved costly.

🥎 CSI Softball Shuts Out Southern Nevada
The 8th-ranked CSI Softball team blanked Southern Nevada 5-0. Ella Farrell tossed a 4-hit shutout with six strikeouts. CSI now heads to Florida for their final preseason tournament.

🏀 Women’s College Basketball
🔹 CSI Women’s Basketball suffered their second straight loss, falling 54-46 to USU Eastern. The Golden Eagles struggled, shooting just 24%. Kennedy Gillette led with 14 points and 9 rebounds. CSI, now 18-6 (6-3 in conference play), travels to North Idaho next.

🔹 Boise State women’s basketball struggled against Wyoming, falling 79-45. The Broncos shot just 30.1%, while the Cowgirls dominated at 55.6%. Boise faces Nevada on Wednesday.

🔹 Idaho women’s basketball had a season-low shooting night, hitting just 20.6% from the field in a 52-44 loss to Idaho State. Olivia Nelson led with 14 points as Idaho looks to bounce back against Portland State on Feb. 6.
