A water line break yesterday morning sent a Twin Falls city repair crew to Blue Lakes North near Addison Avenue. Just after noon the city sent a message through social media that said a temporary patch was made and the intersection was opened back up to traffic. The break did not affect running water. The cause of the break is still unknown.
The Idaho State Board of Canvassers randomly selected eight Idaho counties that will participate in a post-election audit of paper ballots. State officials selected Latah, Bingham, Elmore, Bear Lake, Custer, Minidoka, Clearwater and Jerome counties for the 2024 post-general election audit.
A Meridian man has been ordered to pay over a million dollars in restitution and spend the next 10 years in federal prison. Robert Purbeck hacked into the computer servers of the City of Newnan, a Georgia medical clinic, and 17 other victims across the United States, and stole personal information belonging to more than 132,000 people. In addition to the 10 years, Purbeck will serve three years of supervised release and pay over a million dollars in restitution.
Talks continue in the proposed University of Idaho and University of Phoenix megadeal. On June 28, the State Board of Education gave the U of I another year to try to get a signoff from Phoenix and skeptical legislators. The extension gave a reprieve into a $685 million deal lawmakers had all but killed in March.
Looking to harvest your own Christmas tree? Permits went on sale starting yesterday. The permit allows for tree cutting until December 25th. The permits are available at the local forest service office or online.
Semi-Trucks traveling west on Pole Line Road will no longer be allowed to turn right onto Bridgeview Blvd. It was determined that it’s not safe to do so. Signs have been installed and police will monitor and educate violators.
The BLM awarded the Wood River Trail Infrastructure Agreement to the Wood River Trails Coalition. The Coalition will construct trails over the next 5 years in the Wood River Valley.

In high school state tournament football playoffs Dietrich took the win over Tri Valley 71 to 40 The Carey Panthers are joining the Dietrich Blue Devils in the 1A Milk Bowl after a dominating 70-0 win over fifth seed Garden Valley. Kimberly’s season came to an end Thursday night in Pocatello as the Bulldogs were shut out by No. 1 Sugar-Salem 27-0. As for Hagerman in the 2A semifinals, the Pirates suffered a 50-22 loss to Butte County, ending their season at the Dome Thursday night in Pocatello.
In Girls High School Basketball, Burley defeated Wood River 71 to 19. Idaho Falls downed Canyon Ridge 57 to 39.
Boise State remains undefeated in the Mountain West Conference after beating San Jose State 42-21 on Saturday night. Ashton Jeanty added to his Heisman campaign, running the ball 32 times for 159 yards and three touchdowns, breaking Boise State’s single-season rushing record. He now sits at 1,893 rushing yards on the season. The Broncos stay on the road as they’ll travel and play Wyoming on Saturday.
Mark Hamper caught eight passes for a career-high 187 and three touchdowns, including a game-clinching 74-yard fourth-quarter touchdown to lead the eighth-ranked Idaho Vandals to a 31-24 win over Weber State and close the regular season undefeated at home for the first time since 1996. The Vandals are looking to secure the best possible playoff seeding as they travel to Pocatello for the finale against Idaho State in the Dome. For the first time, the two teams will play for the Potato State trophy. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
In college basketball, Tyson Degenhart registered 20 points and 11 rebounds, Andrew Meadow had a career-high 18 points and Boise State won the rebounding margin as the Broncos defeated Clemson 84-71 in a non-conference showdown Sunday afternoon at ExtraMile Arena. Boise State will have the week off before competing in Cayman Islands Classic on Nov. 24-26. The Broncos open the tournament against Hampton on Sunday at 9 a.m.
Three Vandals scored in double figures and the Vandals outscored Southern Utah by 16 points in the second half as the Idaho women’s basketball team picked up a 66-53 road win over Southern Utah, Saturday to move to 2-2 on the season. The Vandals are now 2-2 on the year and next travel to San Luis Obispo, California, on Saturday to take on Cal Poly at 2 p.m. PST.
In front of 16 thousand strong, the Idaho men’s basketball team couldn’t carry over its strong first half as BYU pulled out a 95-71 victory on Saturday afternoon in the Marriott Center. Idaho returns home for a Tuesday night matchup against Evergreen State on Nov. 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. inside ICCU Arena.
The College of Southern Idaho Men’s Basketball Team couldn’t overcome sluggish starts to each half, falling to Indian Hills 87-79 Saturday in the North Canyon Medical/Physicians Immediate Care. CSI, 5-2 overall, hosts the Coca-Cola Invitational next Friday and Saturday.
Soldier Mountain in Fairfield Idaho is a new training ground for Olympic skiers and snowboarders. The ski resort said it’s a three-year deal with the slopestyle teams for the Hydro Flask U.S. Snowboard Team and the Stifel U.S. Freeski Team to host the inaugural training camps in December and late March. The partnership also allows Soldier Mountain to double its snowmaking capacity providing top-to-bottom coverage for all visitors to the mountain to enjoy.
