Former President Jimmy Carter’s death has prompted a wave of heartfelt tributes from Idaho leaders and lawmakers this morning. Here is what some prominent heads of state had to say about the former president and peanut farmer. Idaho Governor Brad Little said Jimmy Carter will be remembered as a man who dedicated his life to his country. Senator Jim Risch said His service to our country and faith-based efforts to help those in need deserve respect and gratitude. Congressman Mike Simpson said Jimmy Carter was a dedicated champion for Habitat for Humanity.
A Buhl woman has been accused of taking 28-hundred dollars of items from Lowes. 43-year-old Jennifer Jean Loos and a man is alleged to have made repeated stops at the store from August to November sometimes rolling shopping carts filled with merchandise through the doors. Loos has been charged with three felony burglary charges, one charge of aiding/abetting grand theft, two misdemeanor commercial burglary charges and two counts of petit theft.
A previous investigation connected to Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four college students in Idaho, that involved a home invasion that police later determined he was not involved in could help shape his defense. Attorney Brian Buckmire spoke to ABC News about the new development, saying that “without a doubt” Kohlberger’s defense team will use the home invasion case to try and “raise reasonable doubt.” The home invasion case happened a year before the killings.
There was quite the mess yesterday afternoon on I-15 near Shelley. Police say tires on the rear of a cattle trailer exploded in flames. The cattle were let loose on the freeway while fire crews doused the full engulfed trailer. Both northbound and southbound lanes were blocked for about 4 hours.
There is increased danger of a avalanche in the wood River Valley this morning. The Sawtooth Avalanche center has moved the danger level from a 3 to a 4. Snow has been falling in the area for several days.
The Idaho potato drop is set for tomorrow evening. It will happen on the Idaho State Capitol Plaza. This will be the 12th year for the event.
Idaho fish and game say 900 catchable rainbow trout will be stocked in Filer Ponds in January 2025. Hatchery personnel will be stocking approximately 900 10-12” catchable-sized rainbow trout in January, all in Filer Kid’s Pond and Filer Pond.
