🔥 KIMBERLY HOUSE FIRE DISPLACES SECOND FAMILY
A second family has been displaced after another house fire in the Kimberly area. Crews responded to a home on Gem Street early Sunday morning. No one was hurt, but the home is uninhabitable.
🚨 FATAL CRASH WEST OF SHOSHONE
A 53-year-old man from El Salvador was killed last night in a single-vehicle crash west of Shoshone. Idaho State Police say his car left U.S. Highway 26 and rolled several times. The highway was blocked for about two hours.
🔥 CLAREMONT FIRE EXPANDS IN BOISE FOOTHILLS
The Claremont Fire in the Boise Foothills has grown to 4,420 acres. Level 3 “Go” evacuations remain in effect for parts of the Rocky Canyon area.
🏥 IDAHO PREPARES TO AWARD RURAL HEALTH GRANTS
Idaho is preparing to award nearly $186 million in federal rural health grants, and state leaders say contractors will be needed for projects ranging from hospital upgrades to telehealth spaces. All grant funding must be awarded by the end of October.
🏚️ ABANDONED TWIN FALLS CLINIC REMAINS STANDING
An abandoned downtown Twin Falls clinic owned by Galena Opportunity Fund remains standing despite a city demolition order. Officials say repeated attempts to contact the company have gone unanswered, and tearing down the asbestos-filled building could cost several million dollars.
🚧 STATE HIGHWAY 46 CLOSURE NEAR WENDELL
Drivers near Wendell should expect a closure on State Highway 46 tomorrow through the 14th as crews repair the railroad crossing surface. Traffic will be detoured using Interstate 84 and Exit 155.
🛣️ KETCHUM CONSIDERS TRANSPORTATION TAX INCREASE
Ketchum voters could decide this November on a local option tax increase to help pay for street, sidewalk, and pathway improvements. The proposal would raise about $2.2 million a year through small increases on sales and lodging. City leaders say the money would be used only for transportation infrastructure.
🗳️ JOHN STEGNER LAUNCHES CAMPAIGN FOR GOVERNOR
Retired Idaho Supreme Court Justice John Stegner has officially launched an independent campaign for governor. Stegner says he’s running to restore confidence in state government and will challenge incumbent Brad Little in 2026.
🔔 RESTORED LIBERTY BELL RETURNS TO STATE CAPITOL
Idaho’s newly restored Liberty Bell replica is back at the State Capitol after restoration. Beginning in mid-August, the bell will tour all 44 Idaho counties as part of the state’s America 250 celebration, giving residents the chance to ring it and celebrate history.

Kimberly’s Good Neighbor Days returns this weekend with a parade, live music, food trucks, vendors, and family fun. Most events are free and open to the community.

⚾ RED HAWKS SWEEP KIMBERLY
The Twin Falls Red Hawks are building momentum at just the right time. The Red Hawks swept Kimberly in a doubleheader Monday, thanks to a combination of clutch hitting and dominant pitching.
Luke Walton struck out eight in the opener before Bo Stringer closed the door with six more strikeouts. Cameron Ward delivered the walk-off triple in a 5-to-4 win, then drove in three more runs in game two.
Bridger Phillips tossed a complete game as Twin Falls stayed hot heading into next week’s Legion A District Tournament. First up, the Red Hawks host the Green Sox today in what could be a postseason preview.
🏈 IDAHO VANDALS ANNOUNCE KICKOFF TIMES AND TV SCHEDULE
Idaho football fans now know when and where they’ll be able to watch the Vandals this season. The Big Sky Conference has announced kickoff times, and Idaho will have at least seven games televised beyond the conference’s ESPN+ package.
The Vandals open August 28th at Cal Poly on ESPN, face Utah on ESPNU September 3rd, and host Montana State October 2nd in a nationally televised ESPN matchup.
Regional broadcasts on SWX will also feature home games against Southern Utah, Eastern Washington, and UC Davis as excitement continues to build for the 2026 season.
🏈 IDAHO STATE RELEASES COMPLETE FOOTBALL SCHEDULE
Idaho State football has its 2026 schedule set, with kickoff times now announced for all 12 games. The Bengals will play seven home games inside the ICCU Dome, opening the season August 29th against VMI before hosting San Diego two weeks later.
Big Sky play begins September 26th at Southern Utah, with Homecoming against Cal Poly set for October 10th.
The regular season wraps up November 21st when rival Idaho comes to Pocatello for the Potato State Rivalry and Senior Day. Every Big Sky game will stream on ESPN+, with select matchups also airing on Scripps Sports.
🤠 CALDWELL NIGHT RODEO ADDS MAJOR UPGRADES
The Caldwell Night Rodeo is getting ready for its 102nd year with some major upgrades. Organizers have completed the second phase of a $7.5 million capital campaign, adding the new Rowdy Roost viewing deck, three premium skyboxes, and expanded ADA accessibility.
The improvements are designed to modernize the grounds, create more seating, and help keep ticket prices affordable.
The Caldwell Night Rodeo, one of the nation’s top five outdoor rodeos, returns August 18th through the 22nd.
🎿 SKI IDAHO UPDATES PEAK SEASON PASSPORT PRICING
Ski Idaho is making a small change to its popular Idaho Peak Season Passport this winter. The passport, which gives fifth graders three free days and sixth graders two free days at participating Idaho ski areas, will still cost just $29 when registration opens in October.
But after December 20th, the price increases to $49. Even with the increase, organizers say the pass offers families thousands of dollars in skiing and snowboarding value across 18 Idaho ski resorts.
