JANUARY 26TH – IDAHO TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT OPEN HOUSE IN PAUL

The Idaho Department of Transportation wants to hear from you. New changes are coming in the future to exits 208 & 211. ITD will host an open house forum Wednesday, January 26th from 5-7pm at the Minidoka Co Fire Department located at 1120 21st Street in Heyburn. The project manager will be available to hear your concerns and answer questions. 

 

JANUARY 27TH – COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN IDAHO COMMUNITY ED – BEGINNER GUITAR LESSONS

Did you get a new guitar for Christmas or do you have an old one collecting dust in your house? Have you always wanted to learn how to play? If so, this class is for you! Performing musician and CSI guitar instructor Michael Frew offers this quick-start course for beginning guitar students. Students should bring their own guitar. The cost for the class is $120 per student. Classes will run every Thursday from January 27th through March 3rd from 6pm to 8pm in the CSI Fine Arts Building room 137

 

JANUARY 27TH - Hard History with Darren Parry: The Bear River Massacre

Former Chairman of the Northwestern Band of the Shoshone Nation Darren Parry will share about the massacre that took place at the Northwestern Shoshone winter village Boa Ogoi on January 29, 1863. The Bear River Massacre, as it is known today, became the largest massacre of Native Americans in the West.

Hear from Darren Parry in person at the Idaho State Museum on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 6-7:30PM. This event is free to the public. The Idaho State Museum is following current CDC guidance related to masking and physical distancing.

JANUARY 28TH – 4-H HORSIN’ AROUND CAMP – MINIDOKA CO FAIRGROUNDS

Yeeeehawww!! 4-H Horsin' Around Camp is an overnight horseless horse camp for youth ages 8-18 (as of Jan. 1, 2022) who would like to learn more about horses coming up January 28th and 29th. The camp is held at the McGregor Center at the Minidoka County Fairgrounds. Friday night there will be games, a horse bowl, and a movie. After breakfast and the scavenger hunt on Saturday morning, there will be classes, roping, and of course a craft. Awards & certificates will be presented and then campers will head home at 4pm. The cost is only $30.00 for the first member in the immediate family, $20.00 for each additional member, and adults are $10.00. The registration deadline is January 21. JANUARY 29TH – CASTLEFORD MEN’S CLUB AUCTION

The Castleford Men's Club will have their annual fundraising auction on Saturday, January 29th, beginning at 10:00 AM in the Castleford School Cafeteria. Auction items in the past have included blankets, baked goods, fertilizer, gift certificates, jerky, tools, pies, and yard decorations. This annual fundraiser benefits the Castleford Men's Club. The Men's Club primarily supports the youth of the community.

Each graduating senior of Castleford Schools that applies, has received a scholarship for continued education. Other support includes 4-H clubs, FFA career event teams, PTYO playground improvements, FCCLA, travel clubs, music department, and the National Honor Society.

 

JANUARY 29TH – 44TH ANNUAL CSI BOXING SMOKER

The 44th Annual CSI Cowboy and Cowgirl Boxing Smoker fundraising event for the CSI Rodeo Program will be January 29th at the CSI Expo Center. Doors open at 5:30pm with the action beginning at 7pm. 15 bouts will be on the card featuring both men and women local community members, CSI students and CSI Rodeo Team members. JANUARY 29TH – WREATH PICK UP IN BUHL SPONSORED BY THE MAGIC VALLEY POW/MIA

The Magic Valley POW/MIA group will be gathering the wreaths from Wreaths Across America on Saturday, January 29th from the West End Cemetery, Buhl. JANUARY 31ST – TEEN HOPE PROGRAM SPONSORED BY SIMPLY HOPE FAMILY OUTREACH

Teaching life skills through positive interaction & helping teens find a place. This is the new program called Teen hope starting January 31st offered by Simply Hope Family Outreach. An Open House is set for January 25th from 3 to 8pm at their new location at 1323 Oakley Avenue in Burley.

 

JANUARY 31ST – 2022 MAGIC VALLEY LIVESTOCK SCHOOLS – MEATY MATTERS

The University of Idaho 4-H Extension in Gooding County will be hosting the 2022 Magic Valley Livestock Schools – Meaty Matters with the topic of Forage Management in Drought on Monday at 6pm at the Lincoln County Community Center in Gooding. Scratchboard Drawing – CLASSES BEGIN FEB 17TH AND RUN THROUGH MARCH 31ST

Join CSI’S class and explore this unique art medium. Scratchboard is done using a specially prepared board consisting of Black India Ink covering a layer of white paint underneath the ink. The artist actually “scratches” out the previously drawn image using a sharp needle-like instrument. FEBRUARY 10TH – GRANT WRITING 101: FINDING – WRITING AND WINNING THE FUNDING YOU NEED

CSI is offering a one day, three-hour course is focused on enhancing the skill set of both beginning and experienced grant writers. You’ll cover finding, preparing and writing grant proposals that reviewers want to fund, and knowing what to do before and after your proposal is funded. Attendees will walk away with answers to questions like these: “Where can I find money for myself, my company, or my organization?”, “How does the grant process really work?”, and “What can grant money be used for and what are the grant funders really looking for?  This is a one time class that will be held the evening of February 10th from 6pm to 9pm on the CSI campus in the Shields Building room 104.  The cost is $60. FEBRUARY 18TH – Brotherhood of the 5th MC – SPAGHETTI FEED AND RAFFLE

MARCH 11TH – 13th – 11TH ANNUAL DON PETER’S MEMORIAL STEEL DART TOURNAMENT

The 11th Annual Don Peters Memorial Steel Dart Tournament will be held at the Snake River Elks Lodge #2807 in Jerome, March 11st through the 13th, sponsored by the Southern Idaho Dart Association. This is where new friends meet and old friends reunite to play the game of steel darts!  Cash only for entries and purchases inside the event.  All ages are welcome! MARCH 25TH – SHEWMAKER FAMILY BENEFIT DINNER AND AUCTION AT MOUNTAIN VIEW BARN
